Culture isn’t neutral. It is always shaping something — your family, your business, your community. And as leaders, we don’t get the luxury of sitting on the sidelines.
God has given us both the responsibility and the power to shape culture from the top down.
Culture Starts Close to Home
We often think of “culture” as something far away — in politics, in Hollywood, in national institutions. But the truth is, culture begins at home. It flows outward into business, church, and society.
Ask yourself, what do I have in my hand? And then trust the Lord to use it.
In one of his final interviews before he passed, Voddie Baucham reminded me that the most important shaping tool God has given us is not “out there.” It’s already in our hands.
For Moses, it was a staff. For you and me, it might be a business, a team, a marriage, or a set of skills.
God Uses What You Already Have
When Moses stood at the Red Sea, God didn’t ask him to go searching for a new tool. He asked him to use what was already in his hand.
That’s the challenge for us. We don’t need to wait for the perfect circumstance, the ideal resources, or the “right” time. We need to be faithful with what God has already entrusted to us.
So let me ask you — what’s in your hand?
Your Business Is a Tool
One of those tools may very well be your business. It’s not just a vehicle to make money. It’s a platform to bless, to lead, to disciple, to shape.
If you lead a business, God has given you an opportunity to influence more than just your balance sheet. You get to influence culture.
The Call to Action
So here’s what I’ve been asking myself: Am I using my business, my leadership, and my influence to bring God glory and to build something that lasts?
I want you to wrestle with the same question this week. Look at what’s in your hand. Then trust God to use it for His purposes — in your family, in your community, in your work.
What’s in your hand? And how will you use it?
To thriving,
Zach
